The Story behind this Sentimental gifts design

Even before paper crafts my first love is gardening ,I got my passion for gardening from my father , As children he never tired of attempting to encourage in us "a bit of a green thumb" Experiencing the great pleasures that gardening offers (just like dad I guess) I have always tried to foster in my four offspring an interest in the garden , When they were all little we would have sun flower races to see whose sunflower would grow past a line drawn along the fence. My second son each morning , before school , would go out into the garden and check on the progress of his sun flower. One morning to his great dismay something had during the night up rooted his flower, well you can't successfully replant a sunflower and he knew that , and he was heart broken. He marched into the kitchen forlornly bearing his wilted plant in outstretched chubby little hand. The first time and every time I look at the picture of the bear and his sunflower the first thing that comes to mind is that morning and my sad little boy , I just couldn't resist the graphic and simply had to make a sentimental gifts book design with it. Not to leave you in suspense over my son, we had some sunflowers that had volunteered from seeds on the other side of the garden ,I suggested that he might adopt one of these , I put a stake in the ground next to the replacement plant with a line drawn on it so he could still check its progress everyday and that year his adopted sunflower won the sunflower race.

This sentimental gifts design has a touch of country charm about it with the gardener bear offering the gift of a sunflower it makes me think of " he loves me, he loves me not " but on a much grander scale a very cheerful design with its bright yellow sunflowers and vivid white back ground, for some reason always makes me think of warm June afternoons spent in my garden weeding and planting. Has a lovely little verse that expresses appreciation and gratitude the verse can be easily adapted for many people for many occasions. This is one of my favorite sentimental gifts
