Four bed quilts
are ready to fold and spread
On Mother Earth’s old trundle bed.
The first, a brown and white old thing,
She puts on in the early spring.
The summer one is green and bright,
With daisies nodding left and right.
And then when winds begin to blow,
She spreads a red quilt on, you know.
She sews it through with yellow thread;
It makes an autumn-leaf bedspread.
And by and by, all in a night,
She spreads her quilt of snowy white.
This little poem appeals to me on many levels firstly it appeals to the gardener in me in the sentimental way it refers to mother nature and the seasonal changes of the landscape it also reminds me in away that we are only guests in mother natures home and that we should treat our surroundings with respect and gratitude for being allowed to stay. And then theirs the imagery it conjures this design would make a great gift for any gardener ,nature lover and hobby quilters.
